Flower Girls
These are more photos from our orchard trip. This part was right up Joshi's alley. U-cut flowers. We will definitely do this again when we're in Hood river. We got a great bouquet of flowers for $1.75. They had dozens of different types of sunflowers. Joshi cut all of our flowers with her Dads help.

Trip to the orchard
We went for apples and came back with peaches. (Ok so I guess I had my seasons a little off.) Mikell and family came with us over the mountain to Hood River. The girls had a great time picking peaches and going thru the corn maze. We even got to feed some goats. They also cut some beautiful flowers but I'll have to post them tommorrow. Too many adorable pics.

ballerina mornings
These pics were taken last week when Elwood was home. I got to sleep in until almost 8 o'clock!! while Elwood got up with the girls. He had them dressed in tutu's when I went downstairs. Joshi is helping him make breakfast. She always talks him into cooking her white rice for breakfast. Elwood will actually be home again this mon-Fri too.

Joshi's new hair cut
Joshi wanted to get her haircut like a girl at church. It actually didn't come out exactly right but its super cute. Its was suppose to be a bit shorter in the back so it angles more. You can tell in the first photo that Joshi was nervous. I thought she might back out (Elwood attempted the beauty salon adventure with her last year, and it ended in tears + no haircut) but it went pretty smoothly. She's all grown up now I guess.

Time Capsule
The recent rainy days have forced us to do some of the family projects we've been putting off. Yesterday we did a family time capsule. I got the idea when Elwood brought home this funky container that a butane lighter had come in. It was to cool to throw away and I thought it looked like a time capsule. If they have a look, i don't know. So, we put a family portrait in there and we all answering a series of questions: age, fav music, best part of last week, etc.. Joshi put in a drawing she did and a beaded bracelet she made. Elwood ripped out a head line of recent guitar distortion effects, and I ripped out a head line from recenty gossip mags. We buried it down the hill behind our house. The plan is to dig it up in 4 years. We better not move =0)

One year ago
One year ago today I met Billi. This week in August last year I was in Ethiopia. Definitely the hardest trip of my life. I was scared to go there alone. I was worried my new daughter would be afraid of me(like Joshi was in China) But that was actually the smoothest part of the whole endeavor. Billi wasn't scared at all. And she still has no fear. Wow its been a great year.

Portland Children's Museum
We had a great trip to the Children's Museum today. Both girls had a blast. Barb and Elizabeth met us there. My camera ran out of battery less then half way thru. But I got a couple good shots. We probably spent more then 2 hours there. It sure is easier going places with the girls when Elwood is with me.

Surprise home coming
Here are some cute pics of the girls talking with Elwood on the phone. Billi just babbles away at him. Of course Joshi and Elwood could go on for hours with their imaginary games they play over the phone. Good thing they both have great imaginations. But todays phone call was a surprise home coming. The lead singer of their tour fall off the stage. And injurded himself AGAIN. So they canceled they rest of the tour. It looks like Elwood will be home most of August. Great news, to have him home. Of course less money but they will probably reschedule all the dates later in the year.

Cafe Afria
Cafe Aria is a new coffee shop in Welches and they serve ice cream and choc. covered bannana's The owner has a little girl just a couple days older than Billi. Her name is Aria. Whats funny is the wife really wanted to call her Billi. We had a discussion , when she was pregnant, about how it was crazy we both picked the name Billi. Her husband vetoed it. Otherwise, there would be a Cafe Billi in Welches.

Heat Wave
Well the truly miserable heat wave is over. Its still too hot for my liking but about 20 degress cooler. Here are some pics of the girls trying to beat the heat. Water fights and ice cubes. I made colored ice cubes on a string one morning for them to play with in the afternoon. But it was so hot they last about 4 minutes. Although the ice cube necklace was especially "refreshing" We actually spend the 2 hottest nights at a hotel.
